Two persons were arrested for going for second marriage and forcing their old wives to follow suit. The incident occurred in Koira area.
Sources said one Chitrasen Palei residing along with his mother at Giniga village under Mahulpada police station forced his wife Namita to marry a relative while he married lily, who had a six-month-old son. Chitrasen and his mother Santi forced Namita to marry a relative Pabitra Mohan Palei, who was already married to one Rina.
However, Pabitra’s wife Rina challenging his second marriage lodged a complaint in Mahulpada police station slapping charges of dowry torture. Pabitra was arrested and sent to jail after his bail plea was rejected.
On the other hand, Chitasen's second wife lily lodged an FIR in Mahulpada police station on Tuesday night against his husband Chitrasen and her mother-in-law Santi allegedly for torturing her for dowry and threatening to kill her. She mentioned in her FIR that her mother-in-law Santi and her husband Chitrasen were demanding `2 lakh and a dumper.
Mahulpada police on Wednesday night brought both Santi and Chitrasen to police station and later arrested Chitrasen.
