A preliminary chargesheet was filed in another case against arrested top Maoist leader Sabyasachi Panda on Wednesday. Investigative officer and DSP Crime RN Barik filed the chargesheet in a case filed at the Baidyanathpur police station six months after his arrest in the city. Two independent witnesses have been named in the 29 page chargesheet along with 10 prosecution witnesses. However, the police have not sought permission from the Central Government to book him under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA).
The case had been filed after a special BN Pur PS team arrested Pradeep Mallick of Hatimunda area under Daringbadi block near the house of Jan Adhikari Manch convenor Dandapani Mohanty on July 21, 2011. large quantities of Maoist leaflets and a four-page letter written by Sabyasachi to Mohanty were seized from him.
