A young woman and her mother-in-law succumbed to burn injuries after a major fire in their house due to gas leakage in the Ghasipura police station area in Keonjhar district on Thursday night.
The deceased were identified as Kanan Das (54), wife of one Binod Das, and her daughter-in-law Sunita (27). As per reports, a fire erupted in the house near the Ghasipura Electricity Office, when Kanan was making tea in the kitchen . Hearing her scream, her daughter-in-law Sunita rushed to the kitchen to rescue her.
But both suffered severe burn injuries and were admitted to the Anandapur Sub-Divisional Hospital. Later, they were shifted to the SCB Medical College Hospital in Cuttack. But both succumbed to the injuries.
