The Samajwadi Party (SP) on Saturday submitted a memorandum to Governor SC Jamir urging him to take steps to ensure 27 per cent reservation for candidates belonging to the Other Backward Classes (OBC) in State Government jobs and admission in various universities and colleges in the State. SP State chief Rabi Behera said while the Government recently directed the Higher Education Department to increase reservation in admission for SC and ST students from 20 per cent to 38.75 per cent, it is a matter of grave concern that no step has been taken to ensure 27 per cent reservation for OBCs neither in employment nor in admission. “We request you to fix a high-level meeting with the Government for to hold discussion and filnalise 27 per cent reservation for the OBCs,” Behera said.
