250 booths sensitive in Kandhamal

As many as 250 out of 637 polling stations in Kandhamal district have been identified as highly sensitive. It was informed by Kandhamal district Returning Officer M Thirumala Naik while holding poll preparatory meeting ahead of the October 15 by-election to Kandhamal lok Sabha seat.

“Micro observers will be deployed in 60 of these 250 booths and CCTV cameras will be installed in all booths,” said Naik, adding, “Employees of the Central Government and Central public sector undertakings such as commercial banks and postal department would be engaged as micro observers.”

Maoist influence and political rivalry, among others, were taken into account while slotting the critical booths. Notably, the Kandhamal lok Sabha constituency is spread over Boudh, Ganjam and Nayagarh districts.
