The Remuna police on Thursday registered a case of murder after a body of a 24- year- old youth was found near a pond in Gaurpur, around 3 km from the police station. The body was identified as Krushnagopal Kamath, son of an ambulance driver engaged in the local industrial unit in Balgopalpur. The severed head was found in the pond after 5 hours of search by the police.
The police suspect the murder was committed by more than one person and the motive could be love affair or a dispute as the deceased was having an anti-social back ground. The head was cut with a sharp weapon and later thrown into the pond. Hundreds of locals rushed to the site to see the body.
The police after arriving at the spot began an investigation with a sniffer dog and a scientific team. SP Niti Sekhar also was present at the spot. A motor cycle and five empty foreign liquor bottles were recovered from the spot. It is suspected that the deceased was murdered at around 11pm.
The elder brother of the deceased has lodged an FIR, said Remuna IIC Sudarshan Dash. “A case under section 302 of IPC has been registered,” said SDPO SR Mahapatra.
