Twenty-four new Government Industrial Technical Institutes (ITIs) would come up in the State soon, informed Skill Development and Technical Education Minister Premananda Nayak in the State Assembly on Saturday.

During the Question Hour, the Minister stated that currently, the State has 49 Government and 448 private ITIs. His department now focuses on imparting additional training in various trades and has, therefore, decided to open 24 new such institutes. “However, we are not focusing on employment of the students. It is the State Government’s responsibility to provide jobs to the ITI students,” he added. Besides, Science and Technology Minister Ashok Panda informed the Assembly that Science Centres would be established in all 30 districts. “Teachers dealing with the subject will be sent to Bangalore for training. The department has decided to send a group of Science teachers to Bangalore on September 24 for the training in first phase,” he said during the Question Hour.
