A total of 234 body and organ donation pledges have been handed over to the Head of Department of Anatomy Prof Chinmayee Mohapatra at the SCB Medical College, Cuttack on behalf of the Body and Organ Donation Initiative (BODI) on Friday.
The BODI claims this to be the highest number of body and organ donation pledges received by any medical college in a day. Besides, 22 donors have pledged to donate body and organ to MKCG Medical College and Hospital, 21 to VSS Medical College and Hospital, 47 to the AllMS, three to Hi-tech Hospital, three to KIMS and two to IMS and SUM Medical College. The pledges will be handed over by the BODI to the representatives of the respective medical colleges.
The donors aged between 18 and 87 years have demanded identity card from Government and arrangement for collection of body donor’s cadaver from their place of death to medical colleges, said BODI Convenor Dr Pravas Acharya, who is heading the campaign for the last two years.
