A population of around 2,300 of Gatkaintara village of Sibtula Gram Panchayat under Tarbha block is reeling under water scarcity, where a piped water project is a non starter and tube wells have failed to meet the need.
An overhead tank had been constructed in 2015-16 in the village under the National Rural Drinking Water Programme at a cost of Rs 56.64 lakh but no one can tell when the project will be operative.
As per sources, a deep well was dug for pumping out water to the overhead tank last year. But no pipeline has been spread and no stand post has been constructed till date.
