22 yrs on, Sundargarh landless yet to get land

Published on:

Fourteen poor landless families under Lahunipada Tehsil of Bonei sub division in the district, who had been provided 4- decimal of land each and had got ROR(Record of right) 22 years ago, are yet to get their land demarcated.

As a result, the beneficiaries have not yet been able to make a home on their land.

According to sources, these people are from a Dalit community of Poigaon(Jharasi) in Khutgaon panchayat.

They work as daily labourers. Most of the families are dependent on forests.

They do not have any land to live since they are very poor.

Sources said about 22 years ago, they had started residing at different places by making slums with palm leaf.

Officials of the Revenue department had visited their area and given ROR to 14 landless persons and had assured that as per ROR their land will be demarcated and they will be  able  to reside permanently on their land but till date, the demarcation of  their land was not done by the concerned officials.

However, the Revenue department has been collecting revenue since the patta was allotted.

These beneficiaries had also brought to the notice of tehsil authorities about their problems, but in vain.

When asked, Additional Tehsildar, Lahunipada, Priyadarsan Sangram Kesari Khuntia said, “I will look into the matter immediately.”
