As many 21 persons of Tensa area of Sundargarh district have been trafficked to Tamil Nadu through brokers. And these people are not paid their salaries at a rubber unit and meted out with harsh treatment.
Their family members are now living under fear because the trafficked persons are not contacting them and as per the direction of the Rourkela SP, lahunipada, the police have registered a case on Friday and are now investigating the case. A police team will also go to Tamil Nadu to rescue these 21 persons.
According to sources, as per a FIR, one Dayanidhi Patra, a native of Tensa area of Sundargarh district, during February 2017, had come to Tantra village, also located near Tensa area, and had lured some locals for good placement in Tami Nadu with lucrative offer. He had reportedly told them that they would be engaged in a rubber unit and would be paid a monthly salary of Rs 10,000, besides Rs 2,000 as their food allowance. All the 21 soon had fallen to the bait.
Accordingly, broker Patra had taken them from their village to Bhubaneswar on February 28, 2017, where he had handed them over to one Arjun Parida, a native of Balugaon village. Parida reportedly had taken them to Tamil Nadu on March 2 and had reportedly dropped them in that rubber factory. Since then, they are being exploited and allegedly are not paid their salaries.
One of the hapless, Suresh Khadia had dialed to wife Pusha from Tamil Nadu somehow and told that they were tortured at the workplace. The family members of the 21 victims met the Rourkela SP on Thursday and requested his intervention for their safe release.
