The Special Task Force (STF) of the Crime Branch on Tuesday seized a huge quantity of PDS kerosene stored for the purpose of black-marketing in the Gurudijhatia area of Cuttack district.
Acting on a tipoff, a team of the STF conducted a raid on the premises of one Khirod Chandra Patra near Church Baula under the Gurudijhatia PS and seized 21,000 litres of PDS kerosene.
The three arrestees are Gokulananda Pal of Kolar in Cuttack and Radhashyam Barik and Jitendra Rout of Ganjam district.However, during raid the owner of the premises Patra managed to escape.
The police also seized two tankers, an electric motor, five empty drums, plastic pipes, chemicals used for conversion of blue kerosene into white, Rs 18,600 cash and equipment used for draining out PDS kerosene from the tankers. “A case has been registered at Gurudijhatia police station in this regard and necessary action will be taken.
