Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik provided appointment letters to 209 Veterinary Assistant Surgeons at a function at the Lokaseva Bhavan here on Saturday.
The CM also provided livelihood assistance to the families affected due to the ban on fishing in the coastal zones for the protection of rare Olive Ridley turtles.
As many as 14,224 fishermen families of Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapada, Puri and Ganjam districts were provided with Rs 15,000 each as livelihood assistance. More than Rs 21.34-crore assistance was provided to fishermen affected due to the fishing ban. Earlier, Rs 7.500 each was being provided to the fishermen’s families during the fishing ban.
