Binayak Acharya birth anniv celebrated in B’pur
Brahmapur: The Binayak Acharya Memorial Trust celebrated the 100th birth anniversary of former Chief Minister late Binayak Acharya here on Wednesday. Chief guest Minister Surjya Narayan Patro recalled the qualities and clean image of Acharya, who occupied a special position in the State’s political history. Khallikote Cluster University VC Prof Amarendra Prasad Mishra, local MlA Dr Ramesh Chandra Chaupatnaik, BDA Chairman SC Moharana, BJP leader Sisir Padhy and trust general secretary Devraj Sahoo spoke on the contribution of Acharya.
Ram Kuber new NTPC Kaniha ED
Talcher: Ram Kuber took over as the new NTPC Talcher Kaniha Executive Director on Friday. He was NTPC Group General Manager. Kuber started his career at the Singrauli Super Thermal Power Station, Uttar Pradesh which is regarded as the mother power station of NTPC.
Khariar NAC holds Self-Govt Day
Khariar: The Khariar NAC in Nuapada district observed the Self-Government Day in its office premises on Thursday. Chairperson Khulana Behera, Executive Officer Prabhat Kumar Masanta, all Councillors and officials were present. The Chairperson distributed fruits and sweets to patients at the Community Health Centre. later in the evening, a Kalyan Mandap was inaugurated by district Collector Dr Poma Tudu. The Collector said efforts are on to convert the Khariar NAC into a municipality. Khariar block Chairman Balakrushna Sabar, Khulana Behera, Chhabila Deep, NAC Vice-Chairperson and former Chairman Nimai Tandi were also present.
Baripada civic body holds local Self-Govt Day
Baripada: The Baripada Municipality observed the local Self-Government Day with several programmes, the most important being dedicating an air-conditioned Swarga Vahan meant to carry dead bodies for funeral. A meeting chaired by Municipality Chairperson Babita Das was held. While Mayurbhanj ADM Gangadhar Nayak was chief guest, Municipality Executive Officer Subashis Mansingh and Vice-Chairman Jitendra Mohanty were also present. The local Self-government Day celebrations are being held here for three days. Several public welfare programmes are slated to be launched in the town.
Self-Govt Day observed in Balangir
Balangir: On the local Self-Government Day, Balangir district Collector Ashis Thakre issued instruction for Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana to poor people of e Balangir Municipality. He stressed on the need to make the municipality a developed one. Among others Municipality Chairperson Santoshini Behera and Vice-Chairperson lipishree Sai were present.
Tusura NAC observes Self-Govt Day
Balangir: The Tusura NAC observed the local Self-Government Day on Thursday. Tusura NAC Executive Officer Santosh Behera presided over the meeting. Tusura NAC Chairperson Bhagyashree Nag and journalist Manoranjan Joshi explained the significance of observation of the day and spoke about the various steps taken by Government for betterment of people of the urban area.
