Odisha hope more medals in Fed Cup
Bhubaneswar: All star sprinters of the state Dutee Chand, Srabani Nanda and Amiya Kumar Mallick are qualified for 100 metre semifinals of the 21st Federation Cup National Athletic Championship-2017 is going on at Patiala on Saturday. Dutee Chand was finished top position in the heats round by clocking 11.70 seconds, while Srabani placed second in her heats with a timing of 11.68 seconds. Amiya placed in the top in the heats by clocking 10.81 seconds. Another Odisha sprinter, Jauna Murmu who bagged silver medal in the 400 metre hurdles on the inaugural day. She was finished third in the 400 metre semifinals and conformed her place for the final.
Odisha eves’ journey ends in Nat’l Football
Bhubaneswar: Odisha women’s team journey ended in 22nd Senior Women’s National Football Championship, as they suffered defeat from Manipur by 1-2 goals at Phagwara in Punjab on Saturday. After the barren first half, Bala Devi was opened the account for Manipur in the 49th minute and her-mate Dangmei Grace double the lead in the 72nd minute. Subhadra Sahu of Odisha scored a goal in the 86th minute but the team lost to Manipur in the semifinal match.
