Mangalam timber workers block NH
Nabarangpur: Irate workers of the Mangalam Timber factory on Friday morning blocked National Highway-26 near the Mangalam Timber Chhak in the town demanding reopening of the factory in Nabarangpur district. The staff and workers of Mangalam Timber factory have been staging a dharna in front of the District Collector’s office for past couple of days in support of their demands.The workers alleged that despite several rounds of talks with the Nabarangpur district administration and the Mangalam Timber factory authorities did not yield any result regarding reopening of the industrial unit, which has been shut down without any prior notice and clearing the payment to staff for month of March.
Three child marriages stopped in Ganjam
Brahmapur: Three child marriages were stopped in Ganjam district by the Child Welfare Committee (CWC), Childline and police team on May 4 at Kamsargada village of Jaganath Prasad Block. While one marriage was being solemnized on May 4, the other two were scheduled for May 7. The CWC was led by Chairman Dr B Bairagi Patro.
