Maoist leader Sabyasachi Panda on Saturday appeared in the District and Sessions Judge Court here in connection with the cases lodged against him for his involvement in various extremist activities in the district.
He was brought from the Brahmapur Central Jail to depose in 11 cases. However, Judge Durga Shankar Mishra only conducted hearing in four cases. In the R Udaygiri Sub Jail attack case, the jail warder, in the R Udayagiri Sub Treasury attack case, the treasury accountant appeared as witnesses. Similarly, in the Ghorni Ghat explosion case, the workers working there testified. In the Marutipampa encounter case, a hotel owner testified. later, on the courts direction Sabyasachi was taken back to Brahmapur. On Panda’s behalf lawyers Dipak Patnaik and Swarup Kumar Pal appeared.
