Rain spoils JK Bose Trophy

Bhubaneswar: Rain continues to play spoilsport on the second day of the JK Bose Trophy here at the KIIT Stadium on Thursday as the game between East Zone and West Zone was abandoned whereas riding on a brilliant century from Krishna, South Zone made the short work of North Zone in the game at Idco Stadium. At Idco, North Zone invited South to bat after winning the toss. But the wayward bowling and sloppy fielding in the middle made the cruise of the South just easier.

South batsmen, Roshan Thyagarajan and A Krishna, started up on a brilliant fashion. They forced North to go for their money by hitting them with ease. Krishna struck a 49 ball century to help his side post a colossal total of 177 runs which was always going to be difficult for any team to track down. Roshan helped him with a well-compiled 49 run innings. The approach of North side was looking a little rusty from the onset as they failed to rotate the strike and couldn’t even hit the occasional boundaries. They lost wickets on a continuous interval and eventually ended the innings on 40/7. Shashank Kishore took two wickets for South side while Akash Sarkar, Vijeth and Shiva accounted for one wicket apiece. In the game at the KIIT Stadium, East scored 86/6 before rain arrived and the game eventually failed to take place. After five wickets fall for 13 runs, East came back well on the way to their decent score before the interruption. Rakesh Dubey (24*) and Fazal Ali (23) resurrected but the game ended soon after the rain arrived and couldn’t take place after that.
