Vigilance sleuths on Wednesday arrested Badamba Block Assistant Engineer Purna Chandra Sahoo in Cuttack district for demanding and accepting bribe of `10,000. Sahoo demanded the bribe from one Subash Kumar Sahoo of Kankadajodi village under the Badamba police limits to pass a wages bill.
Subash Chandra Sahoo alleged that renovation of village pond, Nuapokhari, in Kankadajodi village of the block was undertaken under the NREGS scheme. In order to pass the wages bill of the work, the accused demanded the bribe.
Sahoo’s complaint, a trap was laid and Purna Chandra Sahoo caught raid-handed by Vigilance officers in his residential Government quarter.
