Gurupujan and Divyasandesh (divine message) programmes were held at the premises of the Govardhan Peeth here on the occasion of the Vyas Purnima on Tuesday.
About 2,000 devotees, who had come from various States, worshipped Shankaracharya Swami Nischalananda Saraswati Maharaj. The worshipping ceremony continued from 11 am to 1 pm. The Shankaracharya said, “God’s seven creations, cattle, Vedic Brahmins, Veda, truth, truth-teller, greedless person and philanthropist, have kept the earth alive. If any damage happens to them then the earth will be destroyed.” Now, human beings have turned Bhasmasurs (destroyer demons) in the name of development, he observed. He also said the modern education would destroy the joint family system. Gurupeethas in India are also not safe, he added.
Under the chairmanship of the Shankaracharya, a Satsang was organised. Swami Nirvikalpananda Saraswati, Paramhans Pragyannananda Saraswati, Gajapati Maharaj, Binaya Das, Dr Aditya Padhi andDr Prafulla Rath were present, among others.
The programme was started with ‘Mangalacharan’ and ‘Guru Bandana’. Govardhan Math spokesperson Manoj Kumar Rath referred to the developmental works and activities of the Math
Puri’s Gajapati king released the books ‘Sanatana Dharma’, ‘Swastik Ganita’ and ‘Sanatan Dharmaki Bishesataen’ on the occasion.
