Drug peddler gets 10-yr RI in B’swar
Baleswar: A local court awarded 10 years of rigorous imprisonment (RI) to drug peddler SK Akbar of Orodbazar on Wednesday. The court also imposed a fine of Rs1 lakh, in default of which, the accused would undergo imprisonment for six months more. Akbar was arrested by a special excise squad with 495 gram of brown sugar in June last year.
Man held for hacking wife to death in B’swar
Baleswar: A 35-year-old man was arrested by the Sadar police in Baleswar district on the charge of killing his 28-year-old wife on Tuesday night. Sankar Das hacked his wife Sima over some domestic issue.
JSPl Barbil celebrates Yoga Day
Barbil: The International Yoga Day was celebrated by the Jindal Steel and Power ltd (JSPl) at its pelletisation complex at Barbil in Keonjhar district on Tuesday. A mass yoga session was held at its colony, where employees, residents of both Deojhar and Soyabali colonies and local villagers participated and performed various Asanas and Pranayam under the guidance of yoga instructor Sanjay Pandey. JSPl EVP and unit head TS Shanbhogue joined the event as chief guest and said, “Yoga has tremendous impact on body and mind. It should be made an integral part of life as it promotes better health and brings harmony.”
