The Commissionerate police on Saturday busted a sex racket operating at a slum near Vani Vihar Square and arrested two youths. Police also rescued a woman involved in the flesh trade. Acting on a tipoff, Saheed Nagar police station officials raided the slum in afternoon. Some objectionable items were seized from the spot.
Tension prevailed in the area following the incident as irate locals damaged the thatched house where the flesh trade was going on.
Notably, police have raided the slum four times in the last four to five months. However, the racket used to continue its operation unabated after each raid. Police said that since the offence is a bailable, a person arrested during a raid manages to make reentry in the business after availing bail.
