Panda’s election as BJP State chief celebrated
Nuapada: BJP workers at various places of Nuapada district celebrated the election of Basant Panda, MlA of Nuapada, as the party State president on Thursday. Party workers at Khariar celebrated the occasion by shouting slogans and distributing sweets under the leadership of Sanjay Tiwari, Awahan Joshi and Pruthiraj Mahanty. "Selection of Basant Panda as State president will create a lot of enthusiasm within the party workers to take up the panchayat elections as a challenge," said Tiwari.

Khordha: International-level water sportsperson Surfing Queen Manaswini Maharana of Ganjam district was conferred with the Odisha Gourav Samman-2016 at a celebration of Swami Vivekananda Jayanti here on Tuesday. Besides, environmentalist and self-defence trainer Sunita Behrea, columnist and former Vice-Chancellor of the North-Odisha University Kshirod Prasad Mohanty and Matric examination-2015 topper of Khordha district Jyotiprabha Sahoo were awarded with the Khordha Gourav Samman. The function was organised by the Vivekananda Institute of Advanced Educational Research and Technology in association with the College of Business Management. Chairing the event, Vivekananda Institute chairman Dr Dhirendra Nanda said plans are afoot to establish a Vivekananda temple in Khordha.
SBI Mudra loan Mela held in Jajpur
Jajpur: The State Bank of India (SBI) organised a Mudra loan Mela on January 11 at Jajati festival, Jajpur. Jajpur district Collector Satya Kumar Mallick attended the function as chief guest and distributed sanction letters to the beneficiaries. SBI Region-IV Regional Manager BK Nayak presided over the meeting and said the objective of Mudra loan is to promote small entrepreneurs in the State. The District Collector appreciated such initiative taken by the SBI.
