The special POCSO Judge cum Additional District Judge has acquitted the accused of 2015 sensational Jyoti Vihar campus rape case in which a Professor of Sambalpur University had alleged that one of his colleagues in the campus had raped his minor daughter taking advantage of her loneliness in the home.
The incident had assumed significance following a massive outrage of people as it happened inside an educational institution. After a prolonged hearing and legal complicacies of six years, the accused got scot-free for lack of sufficient evidence. The accused professor remained suspended since then as a case u/s 376 (A) read with POCSO was registered against him after the allegation.
