Student group demands FM Principal’s removal
Baleswar: A group of students of the FM Autonomous College here on Thursday staged a demonstration by closing the main gate of the college demanding removal of the Principal. However, other groups opposed the demand. The situation was pacified by the college authorities.
Sarat Acharya takes over as NlC CMD
Bhubaneswar: Sarat Kumar Acharya took over as the Chairman and Managing Director of the Neyveli lignite Corporation ltd (NlC), a Navratna company engaged in the business of lignite and coal mining and power generation, on Thursday. Prior to this, Acharya served the NlC as its Director (Human Resource). Besides, he has varied experience of over 35 years of working in BHEl, NTPC, NTPC-SAIl Power Company and NlC.
Veteran Sailors’ Forum Meet on Oct 10
Chilka: The annual general body meeting of the Veteran Sailors’ Forum (VSF) Odisha Charter will be held at the INS Chilka on October 10. All retired naval sailors, who are members of the VSF, Odisha charter and widows have been invited to attend the meeting. Retired sailors, who are not members of the VSF Odisha Charter, are requested to take life membership with a fee of Rs 300 and attend the meeting. Five rooms gutted in A’garh fire mishap
Athagarh: At least five rooms of a house at Biriput village under Tigiria Police Station were gutted in a fire mishap on Thursday morning. Villagers said the fire erupted following electric short circuit. However, the villagers along with the Tigiria fire brigade personnel doused the flames and brought the situation under control. Properties worth over Rs 1 lakh were destroyed in the mishap.
