KISS accorded civic reception
Bhubaneswar: The Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) was accorded a civic reception by the Sanskruti O’ Sanskruti organisation at a function here on Monday. The KISS was honoured in recognition of its achievement of getting the Special Consultative status from the UN. KISS Founder Dr Achyuta Samanta received the honour from chief guest Minister Damodar Rout. The Minister said due to Samanta’s efforts, Odisha has gained recognitions worldwide. Among others, MP Prsanna Patsani, former administrator Sitakant Mohapatra and former Vice-Chancellor of Utkal University of Culture Dr Bimalendu Mohanty were present.
VSS Nagar Durga Puja panel officer-bearers elected
Bhubaneswar: The Sarbajanin Durga Puja Samity at VSS Nagar here held its annual meeting and election of its new office-bearers on Monday. Samity outgoing president Siba Prasad Mishra chaired the programme, where outgoing secretary Arttatrana Dalai read out the annual report while treasurer Nalini Mohanty read out the financial report. Besides, the committee elected its office-bearers for the next two years. Gangadhar Mishra was elected as the president and Harihar Tripathy and Nimai Charan Das as vice-presidents. The other members include Girija Prasad Mohanty (general secretary) and Pratap Kumar Nanda (treasurer).
BRS Foundation holds plantation drive in Cuttack
Cuttack: City-based BRS Foundation in association with the Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) organised a plantation drive near the Shiva Temple at CDA here on Tuesday. A total of 50 trees were planted on the occasion. The foundation took the help of the members of the Adarsh Nagar Abasik Sangh while some schoolchildren along with their guardians also took part in the drive. local Corporator Sebati Majhi inaugurated the drive. ANAS president Kailash Panda, noted artist PK Mohanty and Sebati Majhi joined the programme, among others. CMC Deputy Secretary Nirmal Chandra Nayak helped the foundation in providing the samplings.
