Dutee in national, international athletic event

Bhubaneswar : Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) Swizerland suspended International Association of Athletic Federation (IAAF)’s Hyperandrodenism rule, in the basis of such verdict Odisha sprinter Dutee Chand would participate in the national and international event.

The CAS Panel in charge of the procedure ( Justice Annabelle Claire Bennett AO, Australia (President), Prof. Richard H. Mclaren, Canada, and Dr Hans Nater, Switzerland) has suspended the “IAAF Regulation Governing Eligibility of Females with Hyperandrogenism to Compete in Women’s Competition” (the “Hyperandrogenism Regulations”) for a maximum period of two years in order to give the IAAF the opportunity to provide the CAS with scientific evidence about the quantitative relationship between enhanced testosterone levels and improved athletic performance in hyperandrogenic athletes.

In December last year, the CAS, in an interim order, has allowed her to take part in domestic events. Consultant Dr Payoshini Mitra convened Dutee that you have been allowed to continue to compete till a final decision is given by the CAS. Dutee who had challenged world athletics body IAAF\'s hyperandrogenism policy, which bars female athletes having higher level of male hormones from competitions, has been granted permission to run in national events in a provisional ruling by the CAS. Earlier, As per the international guidelines the maximum level of androgen should present in a women athletes is three nanogram in per milliliter. But in case of Dutee it was found higher. In the basis of the report SAI dropped Duttee,s name from the national squad before the Commonwealth Games and Asian Games. After Athletics Federation of India disqualified me from any competition, holding my ineligible to do so under the Hyperandrogenism policy of International Association of Athletics Federations, I was shocked as the amount of androgen present in my body is natural, so I do not have any control over this. I am thankful to my association and the State Sports Department as well as with Sports Authority of India, they all stand rock solid with me and helped me to appear and appeal in front of CAS and got the verdict , said Dutee Chand.
