JSpur Cong leader dies of cardiac arrest
Jagatsinghpur: President of the Naugaon Congress Committee in Jagatsinghpur and former zilla parishad member Kulamani Dash passed away following a cardiac arrest on Wednesday. The leader received some cardiac pain on Tuesday night and later rushed to the SCB Medical College and Hospital, Cuttack, where he died. Several political leaders cutting across party lines and residents of Naugaon block condoled the death Dash, who was cremated at his Ghodansa village.
Vig raids two Ganjam forest officials
Bhubaneswar: Vigilance sleuths on Friday raided the houses of Odisha Forest Development Corporation (OFDC) Chief Auditor in Dhenkanal town and the houses of a Forest Ranger in Digapahandi town in Ganjam district following allegations of amassing disproportionate assets against them. According to reports, the sleuths of the Dhenkanal Vigilance wing raided the house of Chief Auditor Benudhar Nayak at his house at Gudianali area and seized several incriminating documents. Besides, they also raided his house in Angul town.
Three hurt in Action Ispat mishap; officials beaten
Jharsuguda: Three employees of Action Ispat and Power ltd at Marakuta near here were injured at its DRI plant as a blast occurred at the plant at around 7.20 pm on Thursday. They were admitted in a private hospital with one of them, Purano Das, being in a serious but stable condition and referred to the IGH Rourkela later. Workers gheraod the plant office and severely beat its executive vice-president Bijay Naik and AGM Sushil Mallick, sources said.
Daspalla Revenue Inspector arrested taking bribe
Cuttack: Vigilance sleuths on Thursday arrested Bhikari Charan Sahoo, Revenue Inspector of Poibadi under Nayagarh district’s Daspalla tehsil, for demanding and accepting bribe of Rs1,000 from Jayakrushna Pradhan of Tendabadi village for demarcation of land. He was court-forwarded on Friday and would remain in judicial custody till August 7. He had already taken Rs5,000 as bribe from Pradhan earlier, informed an official release.
