Astarang RI held taking bribe
Puri: Vigilance sleuths on Monday arrested Puri district’s Astarang tehsil circle Revenue Inspector Krushna Chandra Sarangi on the charge of demanding and accepting bribe of Rs2,000 from one Sarbeswar Ojha to accompany him to identify his land to police for promulgation of the Section 144 of CrPC as per the orders of the tehsildar. Acting on Ojha’s complaint in this regard, Vigilance police laid a trap and caught Sarangi red-handed while taking the bribe money.

Sambalpur: Vigilance police on Monday arrested CHSE, Sambalpur office Junior Assistant Md Saha Nawaz Khan on the charge of demanding and accepting bribe of Rs 1,000 to issue +2 Science pass certificate and mark-sheet to a student, Akash Panda of Sohela in Bargarh district. Akash, who passed +2 Science this year, had lodged a complaint in this regard. The Vigilance sleuths laid a trap and held Khan red-handed while taking bribe from Akash at his office.
S’garh married woman’s rape: 3 arrested
Rourkela: Three persons were arrested by the Sundargarh police on Monday for allegedly raping a married woman on June 14 night. They had raped the woman at gunpoint in front of her husband. They have confessed their crime after their arrest. The accused persons belonging to Timulia village under the Talsara police station had entered into house of the woman of their neighbouring Bhandaripokhari village on the night of June 14 and raped her at the gunpoint in front of her husband.
