B’swar MP made member of Hindi Salhkar Samiti
Baleswar: Baleswar MP RK Jena has been made a member of the Hindi Salhkar Samiti in the Union Ministry of law and Justice for the legislative department and department of legal affairs. The tenure of membership is three years. The function of the 26-member Samiti will be to advise the Central Government on the matters relating to implementation of the principles in respect of official language.
‘Naveen’ observes 86th foundation day
Brahmapur: Weekly newspaper Naveen observed its 86th foundation day at a ceremony here on Tuesday. Rajya Sabha member Baisnab Parida, former Union Minister Chandrasekhar Sahu, former Assembly Deputy Speaker Rama Chandra Panda, SMIT chairman and Congress leader Dr Bhagaban Gantayat and Chayanika editor Gauranga Pradhan attended the function. Parida in his speech announced that he would give Rs5 lakh for development of the Naveen library.
Remuma tehsil clerk held taking bribe
Cuttack: Vigilance sleuths on Friday arrested Baleswar district’s Remuna tehsil Junior Clerk Rama Chandra Mohapatra for demanding and accepting bribe of Rs1,000 for demarcation of a disputed land of two brothers in Tudigadia village under the Khaira police station. Acting on a complaint of Mana Bhanjan Mohapatra, one of the two brothers, the Vigilance police laid a trap and caught the Junior Clerk red-handed while taking the bribe money from the complainant at the tehsil office.
Malkangiri clerks held on graft charge
Koraput: Vigilance officials on Friday arrested junior clerks Chudamani Patra and Maheswar Behera of the Motu Tehsildar office in Malkangiri district for demanding and accepting bribe of Rs1,000 from one Kalipada Pal of Motu. The clerks demanded the bribe to process a file for issuance of residential certificate. A trap was laid and when the Vigilance team reached at the place, Patra handed over the bribe money to his colleague Behera anticipating troubles. later, both of them were caught by the Vigilance sleuths.
