Tusker tramples man to death in S’garh
Rourkela: Sadni Pradhan (56) of Ratakhandi village under Kuarmunda block in Sundargarh district was crushed to death by a tusker on Wednesday evening. Source said when Pradhan started shouting seeing a tusker passing by on the village road; the latter turned around and crushed Pradhan to the death. Forest officials and police rushed to the spot and recovered the body on Thursday. A sum of Rs 15,000 rupees were provided to the deceased’s family members for cremation and rest Rs 2.85 lakh would be given after some formalities, said Forest Ranger BK Ghadai.
9-yr-old boy drowns in pond in K’pada
Kendrapada: A nine-year-old boy, Rudra Narayan Jena, of Tarando village under the Nikirai police station in Kendrapada district drowned in a pond near his house on Wednesday. later, some locals fished out his body from the pond. The deceased was a Class-V student of the Tarando Primary School.
Sekhar takes over as B’swar SP
