Mass Edu Dept Standing Counsel resigns
Bhubaneswar: Advocate Bibhu Prasad Tripathy has resigned from the post of Standing Counsel of the School and Mass Education Department. Tripathy sent his resignation letter to the department Secretary and a copy of it to the Advocate General of the State. Terming his nine-year job period under the S&ME Department as an important phase of his life, Tripathy mentioned that he resigned being driven by conscience. He is now general secretary of the All Odisha lawyers’ Association.
Angul Senior Clerk held for taking bribe
Cuttack: Pradeep Kumar Behera, Senior Clerk in the Tehsil Office, Pallahara in Angul district, was arrested by Vigilance police on Saturday for demanding and accepting bribe of Rs1,000 from one Dhulia Samal of Barihapur under Kaniha PS for issue of ROR to him. Behera’s residential quarter at Pallahara was also under search.
Bajrang Dal stages dharna in Balangir
Balangir: Members of the Bajrang Dal with the support of BJP activists staged a dharna in front of the district Collectorate here on Saturday. The agitators led by Antaryami Karan submitted a 10-point charter of demands to Collector M Muthukumar. The demands included keeping a tab on the alleged SIMI link and related activities in Balangir, a check on functioning of Madrasa and influx of Bangladeshi nationals who are acquiring Indian voter ID and bringing an end to illegal cow transportation from the district.
