Yet another swine flu patient was identified in a private hospital here on Saturday, taking total cases detected so far in the State to three.

According to reports, a six-year-old girl belonging to a village in Khordha district has been tested H1N1 positive and is undergoing treatment in a private hospital here. Her condition is stated to be stable. A report in this regard has been submitted to the Health department.

The reports said the girl with fever was admitted in the hospital on January 21. Though she was discharged from the hospital after her body temperature became normal, she was readmitted after her blood sample tested swine flu positive at the Regional Medical Research Centre (RMRC).

The girl and her family members, in the meanwhile, have been administered swine flu vaccines. “We have asked the family members of the child to admit her to the Capital Hospital to avoid the high expenses of a private hospital. We have taken all steps to prevent the spread of the disease and asked hospital authorities to remain alert,” said Public Health Director Kaliash Dash.
