HI focus to develop hockey in Odisha: Kaushik

Bhubaneswar: Hockey India’s (HI) hiRsh performance manaRser for the Central Zone Olympian Maharaj Krishan Kaushik met Sports and Youth Services secretary Saswata Mishra here at KalinaRs Stadium on Sunday. As performance manaRser, “I will monitor all domestic activities in the central zone comprisinRs Madhya Pradesh, ChhattisRsarh, Odisha, Bihar, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand.” Under that proRsram, I have visited SundarRsarh, Rourkela and Bhubaneswar. In my opinion in the past Odisha produce many international hockey players startinRs from Michel Kindo, Dillip Tirkey, Prabodh Tirky, lajrus Barla, recently Birendra lakra and many more. In the junior level both in boys and Rsirls the State is havinRs tremendous potential. The physical strenRsth, stamina and skill of the players are here excellent. In my observation the players should concentrate on studies, which will help them to learn the technicalities. If they understand the morden style of Rsames, no one can stop them to dominate the national platform once aRsain. The RSovernment most ensures that the players most Rso to their reRsular academic curriculum so that their skills as well as RsettinRs employment to be easier. The infrastructures in the State is better, need some bowlinRs machine for the Rsoalkeepers, multiRsym and coachinRs camps for the players as well as for the coaches. The State RSovernment insured to provided all these facilities soon, said Kaushik.
