Unit-6 to meet CP in Gati Krushna Football final
Bhubaneswar: Unit-6 Athletic Association would cross swords with Commisionerate Police (CP) in the final of the 11th Gati Krushna Memorial Div-A Football league at Unit-1 High School Ground here on Wednesday. In the semifinal match on Tuesday, Unit-6 edged out Director of Sports by 4-3 goals via through tie breaker. The match ended in goaless draw in the stipulated time. Ranjit Jena, Asish Pradhan, Sk Moin and Rajendra Barik of the winning team successfully converted their kicks into gaol. Similarly, three of the Director of Sports players Uttam Khali, D Srinath and Sunil Sardar netted a goal each in the tie breaker. Sujit Patra, Siba Sankar Panda, Pradipta Kumar Nayak and Sudipta Dash were officiated the match as referees.
East Zone Inter-University Games conclude
Bhubaneswar: East Zone National University Games 2014 was concluded at KIIT University on Wednesday. The selected four teams of each category will participate in National University Games. In volleyball (men) Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapith of Varanashi secured rank one, while VBS Purvanchal University of Jaunpur, North Odisha University, Baripada and University of Calcutta are in 2nd, 3rd and 4th rank respectively.
In volleyball (women) VBS Purvanchal University placed in 1st,Ravindra Bharati 2nd, University of Burdwan 3rd and KIIT University placed in 4th rank. Similarly, in Table Tennis (M), Burdwan University ranked in first, while Calcutta University, Ravindra Bharati and KIIT University ranked in 2nd, 3rd and 4th respectively. University of North Bengal, Darjeeling, Jadavpur University, Pt. Ravishankar Shukla University Raipur and KIIT University ranked in 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th in east zone inter university TT Tournament. In tennis (men) University of Calcutta secured 1st rank, while KIIT University, Sarguja, Siksha O Anusandhan University secured 2nd, 3rd and 4th rank respectively.
In Chess Jadavpur University ranked 1st position, while KIIT, Calcutta, Patna University ranked in 2nd, 3rd and 4th position respectively. Utkal University of Bhubaneswar ranked in 1st position in Kabaddi, while l N Mithila Universtiy of Darbhanga, Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapith and KIIT ranked in 2nd, 3rd and 4th position respectively. The National University Kabaddi Tournament has been scheduled to be held at KIIT. In the valedictory ceremony, Dr. Sasmita Samanta, Registrar, KIIT University, Abhimanyu Singh, Representative, AIU; Sekhar Ghose and Sekhar Chandra Sahoo, President, AOCA were present and distributed prizes to successful teams. On this Occasion 7th KIIT Cup Chess Tournament also opened.
