B’swar MP gets narrow escape in flood area
Baleswar: local MP Rabindra Kumar Jena had a narrow escape on Friday when he fell into a river while overseeing the flood situations in flood-affected areas of Gududa, Remuna and Baleswar. The MP along with some other party were reviewing the flood situation from the Bhadrisia bridge, when the bamboo bridge got collapsed and they fell into the river having 30 to 40-feet water level. They were rescued by locals.
TU leader Nayak distributes relief in Jajpur
Jajpur: Trade Union leader Mayadhar Nayak visited flood-affected areas of Rasulpur and Korei blocks in Jajpur district on Thursday and distributed 8,000 packets of biscuits to the flood victims.
BJD leader Sarada Prasad Das, MlA Akash DashNayak’s personal secretary Pramod Bal and teacher Ashim Nayak cooperated in the relief distribution. Mayadhar Nayak urged the Government to undertake flood support activities on a war footing for the victims.

Baleswar: Vigilance department officials conducted a raid on the Chief District Veterinary Office here on Friday. The raid was conducted following an allegation of misuse of service vehicles.
Jawan gets 2-yr RI for killing colleague
Rourkela: The Assistant Sessions Judge, Bonei on Thursday sentenced a Special Operation Group (SOG) Jawan to two years rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs10, 000 on him for firing a bullet unconsciously, thereby killing a colleague in January 2006. The Jawan would undergo another two months of jail term if fails to pay the fine, said the judge. Sources said SOG Jawan Mohan Sindriya (36), was engaged in a combing operation under K Balang police station in 2006. On January 24, 2006, while Sindriya was cleaning his gun, the trigger got accidentally pressed and the released bullet killed another SOG Jawan Nalini Ranjan Bhengra on the spot.Assistant Sessions Judge Ashish Kumar Tirpathy cross examined 13 witnesses and gave his verdict.
