Jajpur athletic body holds oath ceremony
JAJPUR: The oath-taking ceremony of the Jajpur District Athletic Association was held at the Jajpur Road Town hall on Wednesday with the district Collector Anil Samal administering the office and secrecy to the elected members. Acting President Rasananda Mohanty, Secretary Sambit Mohanty, Vice-President Krushna Chandra Samal, Biswambar Rout, Ajay Nayak, Naresh Rout, Suresh Panda and Bharat Mohanta were administered oath. Samal said that the district is enriched with so many talents and we have to identify the best athletes from our remote villages. He also assured to give full co-operation to the All Odisha Inter District Volley Ball Tournament, to be held at Jajpur Road.
Bhubaneswar School Chess from Aug 8
Bhubaneswar: The Bhubaneswar Chess Association (BCA) would organise the 28th Bhubaneswar Schools’ Chess Championship at Secretariat Recreation Club here from August 8 to 10. Prizes would be given to the players occupying the top thirty positions. Besides, attractive trophies will be awarded to the top three players in the age categories of U-7, U-9, U-11, U-13 and Girls. The last year’s champion was Ariyan Mohanty of DAV Public School, Kalinga Nagar, BBSR. This will be a 8-round Swiss tournament. Chauliaganj win in FAO 2nd Div Football league
Bhubaneswar: Chauliaganj Club defeated lIC by 1-0 goal in the league round match of the FAO 2nd Division Football league at Satyabrata Stadium in Cuttack on Thursday. Sanjit Khara on the winning team scored the solitary goal in the 33rd minutes. Another league match of the day between Club N Club and MHSS ended in goalless draw in the stipulated time. The officials who conducted the match were Bhim Chhetri, Sk.Hyatt, Jiban Jyoti Naik, Keshab Pradhan, Rajesh Bhainsia and Jitendra Swain as referees.
Radha Raman trounces rising star
Bhubaneswar: Radha Raman Club and Sunrise Club defeated Rising Star Club and Kishore Club respectively in the super league round match of the FAO 1st Div Football league at Barabati Stadium in Cuttack on Thursday. Experienced Bhabani Mohanty netted double goals in the 23rd and 71st minutes and helped the Radha Raman Club to beat Rising Star Club by 2-0 goals. In another match, Sunrise Club defeated Kishore Club by 1-0 goal. After the barren first half, the all important goal scored by PC Raju in the 76th minute. The officials who conducted the match were G Suresh Kumar, Subrat Purohit, Sujit Patra, Prasant Kumar Pal and Chandrakant Barik as referees. Chand Club and Sports Hostel would meet Independent Club and Odisha Police respectively in the super league round matches on Friday.
