Rising Star, Radharaman win Football league
Bhubaneswar: Rising Star Club and Radharaman Club defeated Sports Authority of India (SAI)’s Cuttack center and Sunrise Club respectively in the super league round matches of the FAO Football league at Barabati Stadium in Cuttack on Sunday. Arjit Keora of Rising Star netted double goals in the 30th and 47th minutes and powered the team to beat SAI Cuttack by 3-2 goals. Guman Shrestha of the winning team draw the fist blood in the sixth minute. The goal scorers for SAI- STC were Saswat Swain and Kuanar Marandi netted a goal each in the 26th and 67th minutes respectively. In another match of the day, Radharaman Club got the lead in the 10th minute through the goal by Emanuel lmmi. After the change of sides, Wasu Hassan of Sunrise Club netted the equaliser in the 55th minute. In the 77th minute Kanu scored the winning goal and Radharaman Club defeated Sunrise Club by 2-1 goals. The officials who conducted the match were PK Pal, Nabin Naik, Chandrkanta Barik, Sudeep Das and Durga Madhab Naik as referees.
Haryana on top in Thimmappiah Memorial cricket
Bhubaneswar: Abhimanyu Khod’s unbeaten 176 runs and Rahul Dalal’s 136 runs innings helped the Haryana to score 411 runs in the first innings by losing five wickets against Odisha in the inaugural day of the four-day-long Dr K Thimmappiah Memorial Cricket Tournament at Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore on Sunday, being organised by Karnataka State Cricket Association. Odisha bowler got the early break though at one stage Haryana lost their top three batsmen for 18 runs. Opener Abhimanyu stand rock solid and contributed unbeaten 176 runs, in the process he stitched 107 runs for the fourth wicket along with Nitin Saini who scored 49 runs. After Nitin, Rahul Dalal and Abhimanyu contributed 340 runs for the fifth wicket and dominated the day one.
