SC woman abused at Mahanga
Mahanga: A scheduled caste woman was allegedly abused and manhandled by one Gopinath Panda at Kuhunda Hata under the Mahanga police station on Friday. When the woman had gone to fetch water from a nearby tap, Panda reached the spot and forcefully took the key not allowing her to take water. He also abused and manhandled her. later, he again abused her caste while she had gone to a river for bath. The woman lodged a complaint at the Mahanga police station. However, no action has been taken by the police yet.
Man kills wife suspecting fidelity in R’kela
Rourkela: A 40-year-old woman was beaten to death by her husband in Uttam basti under the Bandhamunda area here on Sunday night allegedly on suspicion of having relationship with others. The body of Shanti Surin has been sent for autopsy. Accused Karam Pal Singh (45) is still at large and search is on to nab him soon, said Pushpanjali Samantaray, Bandamunda police station IIC.
Man killed, daughter hurt in road mishap
Kendrapada: A man was killed and his daughter injured when the cycle in which they were travelling was hit by a truck near Gulnagar traffic junction on the outskirts of the township, police said on Monday. The incident occurred when one Madhabananda Behera Devangan (45) was riding a cycle with his daughter on the pillion. Devangan was returning home with his daughter, who was appearing for teachers’ training course examination. The truck was seized while its driver fled.
