Man held for killing wife in R’kela
Rourkela: The Biramitrapur police on Monday arrested and court-forwarded one Ranjit Pradhan of Ward No-11 of the Biramitrapur Municipality on the charge of killing his wife over a family feud. Sources said Ranjit’s wife Munkia was frequently going to her parent’s house which is near to Ranjit’s. On Sunday evening, on returning from job Ranjit could not find her in house. Angry over this, he rushed to his in-laws’ house and forcibly dragged her back to his house. He then hit her with a hammer, which resulted in her death.
Gambling den raided in Khariar; two held
Nuapada: Getting complaints from the people of Badi village of Khariar block, the Khariar police raided a gambling den and caught two persons red-handed while gambling. The police also seized Rs 52,300 in cash, two bikes and a mobile phone from the spot. The arrested persons Kamal Agrawal of Khariar town and Pramod Meher of Bhuliasikuan village were forwarded to court.
