Six get lifer in murder case in Jajpur
Jajpur: The District and Session Judge of Jajpur sentenced six persons to life imprisonment on Wednesday for brutally killing a 28-year-old businessman three years back at village Singhpur under the Binjharpur police station in Jajpur district. Pronouncing the verdict in the sensational case, Judge B Kar convicted Abhimanu Das, Uttam Das, Muralidhar Patra, Saroj Kumar Das, Krushna Chandra Behera and Rabindra Khilar and sentenced them to life imprisonment on the charge of killing Ranjan Thatoi on June 1, 2011. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 20,000 on the convicts.
Unidentified body found on SH-10 in S’garh
Rourkela: The Rajgangpur police on Thursday recovered the body of an unidentified youth aged about 30 years lying on the SH-10 at Jhagarpur in Sundargarh district. Deep injury marks were found on the youth’s throat and shoulder during examination. The police suspected it to be a case of murder and, accordingly, have started investigation, said IIC SK Sethi.
