Two youths die in Bonei road accident
Rourkela: Two youths died in a road accident on the NH-143 under the Bonei Sub-division, when a speeding bike they were riding with, hit a mango tree near Musabira on Wednesday. The deceased were identified as Dhaneswar Toppo (25) and Sanjay Oram (22), both of Musabira village under the Chandiposh Police limits in Sundargarh district. The critically injured youths were sent to Ispat General Hospital (IGH) here, where doctors declared them brought dead. Chandiposh police sent the corpses for autopsy.
Boy drowns in fishpond in JSpur village
Jagatsinghpur: A teen-aged boy, Sambhu Nath Parida, drowned in a fishpond in Puruna Odapada village under Raghunathpur block in Jagatsinghpur distict while bathing on Wednesday. He was declared brought dead at the Raghunathpur hospital.
7-foot Russell’s Viper rescued in Jajpur
Jajpur: Villagers on Wednesday rescued a seven-foot-long Russell’s Viper, locally called Chandan Boda, in the cowshed of co-villager Kalandi Swain at Baladia under Korei block in Jajpur district. They then informed forest officials about it. The officials rushed to the village and released the snake in the nearby forest. Forest Range Officer of Jajpur Road Dibakar Panda said, “It is not unusual to witness such a large Russell’s Viper in the villages near the forest as the forest and the villages are the home to hundreds of snakes, including Russell’s Viper.”
