Mahanga IIC transferred on EC direction
Mahanga: On the direction of the Election Commission, Mahanga police station IIC Jyoti Ranjan Samantray has been suddenly transferred to a railway office. Samantray had joined as the IIC on March 5. Now, it is a matter of public discussion here as to why the transfer order came during the time of elections. Till now, no new IIC has joined in the Mahanga police station.
Home Guard on poll duty dies of sunstroke
Baleswar: A Home Guard on election duty died on Monday. He was identified as Naresh Gauda (27) of Rourkela. Heat stroke could have been the cause of his death. As many as 17 employees on poll duty have so far been suspended by the district Collector on various charges.
Boy drowns in Kolab reservoir
Sunabeda: A boy drowned in the Kolab reservoir near Sunabeda in Koraput district on Monday. Two boys, who had gone for a bath in the reservoir, were found struggling in the water. local people rushed to their rescue but managed to rescue only one of them. The body of the other boy was fished out later.
NABl accredits NTPC Talcher STP
Talcher: The NABl has certified the chemical laboratory of NTPC Talcher Super Terminal Power Station, Kaniha under the scope of chemical testing of all types of coal parameters. This is the first chemical laboratory among all NTPC power stations to have been granted NABl (National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration laboratories) accreditation with effect from March 11, 2014 in accordance with the International Standard ISO/IEC 17025:2005.
