RSP contractual worker dies falling from bunker
Rourkela: A contractual worker of the Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) died after falling from a 70-metre-high service bunker in the plant premises on Tuesday morning. The deceased was identified as Jugal Horo (29), a resident of Sundargarh’s Tangarpali village. RSP CEO GS Prasad expressed deep grief and promised all possible support for his family.
3 Jharkhand men held for killing man in R’kela
Rourkela: The Sector-7 police arrested and forwarded to court three persons on Tuesday on charge of killing one Bishnu Karjee on February 13. They have been identified as Manhem Hemrum, Prakash lugun and Sudhir Hemrum belonging to Jharakhand. According to DSP RK Bhoi, Manhem and Prakash beat up Bishnu on his face severely. As he bled profusely and fainted, the duo along with Sudhir, manhem’s younger brother, took him to Sector-6 hilltop and stoned him to death there. A police team led by IIC PK Das arrested them from their villages on Monday.
ganja worth `15l seized in Birmitrapur
Rourkela: Birmitrapur police on Tuesday seized 540 kg of ganja worth `15 lakh at the check-gate of Birmitrapur. The police detained a 12-wheeler truck and asked its driver and helper to produce vehicle papers, but the duo ran away from the spot. While checking the backside of the vehicle storage area, the police found a number of polythene bags containing ganja. Birmitrapur SDPO PC Routray said, “The vehicle from which we seized the ganja is from Chhattisgarh and we are searching to nab the culprit,” Routray added.
