Semifinalists spotted in Sahani Cup Football
Bhubaneswar: Bhubaneswar, Angul, Bhadrak and Cuttack districts entered the semifinal round of the Senior Men Inter District Football Championship for Sahani Cup on Wednesday. Sanjit Panna (18th), Rame Murmu (40th), Sk Zahid (60th) and Manoj Soren (76th) of Bhubaneswar scored a goal each and the team edged out Kendrapada by 4-0 goals at Athamallik on Wednesday.In other matches of the day, A double goal each haul by Subash Pradhan (30th and 53rd ) and Anteryami Naik (79th and 82nd) of Angul powered the team to beat Mayurbhanj by 4-0 goals at Angul.In the Pallahada venue Bhadrak District won the match by 5-3 goals against Sundargarh. The match ended in draw (1-1) in the regulation time. The goal scorer for Bhadrak was Kunwar Marandi one goal at 5mint, and the goal scorer for Sundargarh was Suresh Kujur one goal at 18mint. In the Penalty Tiebreaker Bhadrak won the match by 4-2 goals.In the Talcher, Cuttack beat Jharsuguda by 6-0 goals. The goal scorer for Cuttack was Gokul Oram (18th and 25th), Surendra Soren (45th and 51st), Arjun Nayak (29th) and Sanathan lohar (90th).
HoD beat OERC in Power Cup cricket
Bhubaneswar: Vedanta, HoD, WESCO and GRIDCO scripted win in their respective matches in the 9th Power Cup Cricket Tournament at Railway Stadium here on Wednesday.
Amitab Mohapatra (GRIDCO), Kamal Bahadur (WESCO), Susant Badjena (HoD) and Naresh Balaka (Vedanta) bagged man of the match award in their respective matches.
Brief score: OHPC 95/6 in 20 overs (S Mishra 41; Ranjit Yadav 3/15) lost to Vedanta 96/5 in 15.4 overs (Naresh Balaka 25) by 5 wickets.
OERC 128/5 in 20 overs (Pradeep Behera 39; Nirmala Biswas and Bibhuti Mohapatra bagged 2 wickets each) lost to HoD 129/4 in 19 overs (Susant Badjena 43, Biswa Bhusan Patnaik 28) by 6 wickets.
WESCO 248/3 in 20 overs (Ajit Behera 68) beat OPTCl-A 71/10 in 15 overs (Kamal Bahadur 4/18) by 177 runs.,JKPSDC 67/10 in 17.3 overs (Amitab Mohapatra 4/5) lost to GRIDCO 68/7 in 20 overs (Asharfa Wani and Sala-ud-din took two wickets each) by 3 wickets.
School open chess meet from Dec 25
Bhubaneswar: The Orissa State Chess Association would organise a Schools’ Open Chess Championship at Secretariat Recreation Club here from December 25 to 27.Students of the State upto class-X who are born on or after 01-01-1998 are eligible to participate in the meet. Prizes will be given to the players occupying the top thirty positions. Besides, attractive trophies will be awarded to the top three players in the age categories of U-7, U-9, U-11, U-13 and girls.There will be total 8 rounds in Swiss System. Maximum number of entries is restricted to 150 on ‘first come first serve’ basis.
