‘local players to get better exposer in HIl’

Bhubaneswar: India’s highest level of domestic tournament is Hockey India league (HIl). This is format in which the young as well as experience players will have a chance to play with top rated overseas players in home condition, said Hockey India coach Tarry Walsh in his visit to Odisha. In my opinion the standard is not put to the international league standards. But I am hopeful in future the HIl will grow further. We should not expect that in the beginning of the league the standard of match to be international standard. Odisha’s young generation hockey player would get a better exposer as there would be five local boys to be in the Kalinga lancer team. Many local players are in the Hockey league. The HIl is a tournament of four weeks, it should be expanded so that many will get a chance to play with each other. The newly constructed hockey stadium here is an international standard. The bounce of the pitch is excellent, the ball is rolling perfectly. The other facilities are to be checked to hold international matches here, he added. Regarding the national team it is too early in my part to comment also unjustified. I need some more quality time with the national team to give my opinion. But one thing I have marked the players are lagging international exposer and they should change their thought process. Always players should play in a group without any ego for the club, company or country. In the context of Odisha many young talents are here need to be get proper training and guidance.
