Forest official arrested for dowry torture
Baleswar: An Assistant Conservator of Forests has been arrested by the Baleswar police on the allegation of dowry torture to his wife. Aditya Narayan Sethi (28) was arrested on the allegation of his wife Somarani Sethi on Friday night, informed police, adding that they were married about six months ago.
K’mal rape accused gets 7-year RI
Phulbani: Assistant Sessions Judge Bijay Kumar Patra on Saturday sentenced a rape accused to seven years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 3,000, in default of payment of the fine to undergo RI for three months more. Amaresh Behera of village Mulgundi under the Khajuripada police station had been accused of raping a girl giving her false assurance of marriage. This incident happened in September 2009 in a playground.

Girls’ hostel inaugurated in P’khemundi
Parlakhemundi: SC and ST Development, Minorities and Backward Classes Welfare Minister lal Bihari Himrika inaugurated a girl’s hostel consisting of hundred beds here at Siali under Kasinager block in Gajapati district on Friday.
