Morning win FAO Football league
Bhubaneswar: A double goals haul by Hope of Morning Club powered the team to beat Sunshine Club by 2-0 goals in the FAO 1st Division Football league at Barabati Stadium in Cuttack on Tuesday. After the barren first-half in the group-B league match, Morning Club got the lead in the 67th minutes through the goal of Hope and he doubled the lead in the 76th minute. PK Pal, PK Mohanty, Chandra Kanta Barik and Sk Hyatt were the referrers for the one-sided match. In the group-F league match on Wednesday, Azadhind Club would meet Chauliaganj Club.
U-15 football: Odisha finish runners-up
Bhubaneswar: In the nail biting final match, Meghalaya defeated Odisha by 1-0 goal and emerged champion in the Sub Junior National (Under-15) Football Championship for Coca –Cola Cup-2013 at Mumbai in Maharashtra on Tuesday. Ronald Kydon lyngdoh of Meghalaya scored the winning goal for his side in the first half and was named the player of the match. Over 41,000 players from 2,610 schools across 86 cities competed at districts, State and zonal levels to qualify for the national finals. The AIFF will be shortlisting 40 players from the tournament for the National under-16 football squad camp.
Selections for Powerlifting meet on May 30
Bhubaneswar: Khurda District powerlifting team selection to be held at Utkal Karate School here on May 30. The selected team would participate in the 25th State Powerlifting Championship to be held from June 21 to 23.
