M Patnaik is new Director of Tourism
Bhubaneswar: The State Government on Saturday replaced IFS officer HS Upadhya with senior OAS officer Manoranjan Patnaik as the Director of Tourism. Patnaik is also a new Director of the OTDC. In the other changes IAS officer GB Swain was appointed as the new Managing Director of the OSIC.
Matric Supplementary Exams rescheduled
Bhubaneswar: The High School Certificate (HSC) Supplementary Examinations have now been rescheduled to begin from June 11 instead of June 10. The Board of Secondary Education (BSE) said Saturday that there would be no examinations for three days beginning from June 14 due to the Raja festival. The Odisha Teachers’ Eligibility Test (OTET) has been rescheduled for June 10.
CBSE chief visits SAI International School
Bhubaneswar: CBSE Chairman Vineet Joshi along with CBSE Director of Training and Research Dr Sadhana Parashar and former Union HRD Secretary Dr Arun Rath inaugurated the Radio Orange 99.9 in the campus of the SAI International School here on Friday. The unique radio station would give students an opportunity to be trained as radio jockey, prepare radio programmes and air education radio jingles. Dr Joshi praised the efforts of the school in providing holistic education. He was happy to know the recent achievements of the school both at national and international levels. School Chairman Dr Bijoy Sahoo requested the CBSE Chairman to help the schools in Odisha with more teacher training programmes. School Principal Harish Sanduja and Trustee Silpi Sahoo were also present.
Bitty handed over to Rajasthan police
Bhubaneswar: A Kerala police team handed over Bitihotra Mohanty, who jumped parole in 2006 while serving a sentence in Jaipur in Rajasthan for raping a German tourist, to the Jaipur jail authorities. Mohanty, son of former Odisha DGP Bidya Bhusan Mohanty, was brought to Jaipur on Saturday on production warrant and taken to the Central Jail there. Bitti Mohanty would produced in a court on Monday, sources said.
