Odisha Police enters Kuber Cup semis
Bhubaneswar: Defending champion Odisha Police barged in to the semifinal by eliminating United Club of Kolkata by 4-0 goals in a lop-sided group-A quarterfinal match of the 2nd Kuber Cup All India Floodlight Football Tournament at Unit-6 High School Ground on Sunday. Brundabana Hemram of the winning team draw the first blood in the seventh minute of the match. However, his-mate Prasant Kumar Nayak doubled the lead in the 41st minute. After the change of sides, Md Ehsan Khan and Bagirathi Topo netted agoal each in the 73rd and 78th minutes respectively. SS Panda, Chandrakant Barik, Priyabrata Bahinipati and Durga Routray were the referees for the match. Among others, Sanjeeb Panda, Santosh Bala, Sri Sri Abhiram Saraswati, Bijan Kumar Behera, Simanchal Moharana and Sangram Jena were present.
DAV wins in PVR Murthy Cricket
Bhubaneswar: The all-round performance of Abhinash Sahoo, who claimed six wickets and smashed an unbeaten 24 runs helped DAV Public School, CDA edged out Saraswati Sishu Vidya Mandir (SSVM), College Square by 10 wickets and entered the quarterfinal rounds of the PVR Murthy Inter-School Cricket Tournament at BOSE Ground in Cuttack on Sunday. Winning the DAV elected to field first, Abhinash scalped six wickets and restricted SSVM for 60 runs in 15.5 overs. In reply, the unbeaten opening partnership between Abhinash (24) and Sourav Parida (21) stitched 61 runs in 9.3 overs and the team scripted a 10 wickets victory. State ranji player Niranjan Behera awarded Abhinash as player of the match as the chief guest. Umpires Basu Sekhar and Bibhu Prasad Behera were conducted the match. In the pre-quarterfinal match on Monday, Cambridge School would meet Ravenshaw Collegiate School. ITER win in Bhubaneswar Football league
Bhubaneswar: In the group-B league match, ITER hammered Green Club by 7-2 goals in the 10th Gatikrushna Memorial Bhubaneswar Football league at Unit-1 High School Ground here on Sunday. Pratik Bhanja of the winning team scored double goals (4th,63rd), he opened the floodgate in the fourth minute and his-mate Abhisek Das doubled the lead in the 11th minute. As like Pratik, AB Debasish Mohanty also netted a brace (33rd,46th). Bhabitosh Kumar and S Murali Roy scored goal each for the winning team in the 88th and 89th minutes respectively. Rashmi Ranjan Rout and T Menon of the Green Club scored a goal each in the 25th and 67th minute respectively to reduce the winning margin. Sudeepta Das, Sekhawat Khan, Chitrambada Patra and Bishnu Priya Das were the officials for the high scoring match.
